Iker Casillas has aimed a dig at Jose Mourinho after Manchester United lost 3-1 to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
United went into the break level after Jesse Lingard cancelled out Sadio Mane’s opener before two second-half goals from substitute Xherdan Shaqiri won the match for Liverpool.
The defeat leaves the Red Devils in sixth position, 11 points off the top four and 19 points adrift of Jurgen Klopp’s men, who occupy the summit.
Casillas fell out with Mourinho during the Portuguese coach’s time at Real Madrid, where he dropped the goalkeeper for Antonio Adan and Diego Lopez.
Their relationship has never recovered and, with mounting pressure on Mourinho’s job, Casillas saw the perfect opportunity to take a swipe at his old coach on social media.
“According to a Portuguese newspaper someone said that a player like me (37 years) is at the end of his career. Completely agree,” tweeted Casillas.
“My question is, for that newspaper: in the case of coaches, when and at what point do you see that they are no longer to lead a team or train?”
