Kotoko and Ashantigold fallout of continental showpiece

With an impressive home victory the miners couldn’t continue with the same pace  and momentum they displayed on soil in the first leg when they visited Fc Barkane in Morocco for the second leg

Fc Barkane proved too strong for the Ghanaian side whose continental journey has been brought to an end.

The miners  have exited CAF Confederation Cup following a 2-0 nil victory to Morocco’s side Fc Berkane on Saturday.

Issoufou Dayo and Zaid krouch hit the back of the net to earn Fc Berkane victory in the first leg and second leg.

With a slim 3-2 away defeat in the first leg, the North Africans progressed 4-3 on aggregate to the play-off round.


On the other side Kumasi Asante Kotoko got eliminated from the continental flagship competition CAF Champions League .

The first leg saw the porcupine warriors beat their Tunisia counterparts Etoile du Sahel on home soil( Baba Yaara Sports Stadium) with a two goal margin.

Asante Kotoko  Failed to approach the second leg with full conviction in attempt to protect their lead and qualify into the group stage of the CAF Champions League when the visited Etoile du Sahel.

The Second leg saw the Home side Etoile du Sahel beat the Ghanaian champions, Asante Kotoko 3-0. on Sunday in Monastir.

The Tunisia’s took the lead as a result of a penalty most pundits consider to be a dubious one, nonetheless it was beautifully converted by Ben Ouanes.

The second goal was a blistering header from Laaribi, at this juncture both teams were tied on aggregate.

Kotoko  failed to take advantage of the Red card shown to the home team in the second half.

The final decider came through another impressive header from  Laaribi.

The final whistle sparked a scene of celebration.

Etoile du Sahel beating Kotoko 3-2 on aggregate to progress to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
